In Dutch we call ‘em duizendpoot, duizend means thousand and poot is leg (for animal), how come the Slovenes believe it has 100 and the Dutch believe it has 1000 ?

I found out also this, in latin it is called: Myriapoda, it comes out of greek word: myria, which means ten thousand and podos, which are legs.
